About

When I first stepped onto a yoga mat over ten years ago, I really didn’t know what to expect – I had no idea what was or even what I was looking for but I was open to the experience. I remember being surprised when I started sweating and found it to be more physically challenging than I had imagined. I walked out still unsure of what yoga is, but enjoyed the physicality of the practice so I kept going back. Slowly, over time, a shift occurred and the time that I spent on the mat became my “me time.”

Life is constantly happening and we live in a world where we are constantly going from point A to point B, and my yoga practice became my time to slow down, shed all the different roles I play on a day to day basis, and truly focus on myself. After several years I felt I wanted to deepen my practice through a teacher training. However, the timing was never right until after I gave birth to my twins.

After my twins were born, I left my corporate job in wealth management to care for them around the clock. Soon, I was exhausted and left with no energy for myself. It was then that an opportunity for a yoga teacher training presented itself. The timing was right; I was at a point where I really needed to do something for myself. I took the training with the sole purpose of learning more about the practice, and no intention of teaching whatsoever. However, through the training I learned that I did enjoy teaching and embarked on a new journey. Within a few months I was teaching full time and sharing my love of the practice with others.

Over time, I found that I needed more to support my body and my mind – this is where pilates came into my life. Quickly I fell in love with the practice as I found that yoga and Pilates really complement one another; as I see it both are practices of the body and mind. Yoga focuses more the mind than the body, and Pilates more body than mind. But both are breath based, have a mindful aspect, and to me both are meditative.

Pilates has been a game changer for me. I am physically stronger than I ever have been in my life. I suffer from a herniated disc and the core strength that the practice provides has drastically improved my quality of life. And as someone who is categorized as “hypermobile” Pilates has given me the structure to support my body. With my own physical limitations I can fully appreciate differences the body and draw upon my own experience in designing sessions for my clients.

The most well known piece of pilates equipment is the reformer; it is so aptly named because it truly does reform the body. The pilates practice is not only amazing for the healthy body, evening out imbalances and creating total body strength, but there is a reason that many physical therapists employ pilates instructors in their offices; the practice can really help bodies with physical injuries and limitations.

Whether with yoga, Pilates, or a combination of both, through working with my private clients I have seen firsthand how these practices can heal the body and ground the mind. I’ve worked with complete beginners and advanced practitioners, healthy and injured, athletes, both young and elderly students, and pre and post natal women. Yoga and Pilates are by design, for every body, and I whole heartedly embrace that sentiment.

I hold my ERYT-200 certification through Yoga Alliance after receiving her training from Harmony Yoga in Redondo Beach CA. While specializing in vinyasa flow, I am also well-versed in yin/restorative, and pre/postnatal. Additionally, I am fully certified in multi-apparatus pilates under the prestigious BASI Pilates program. I have been influenced largely by Ally Hamilton, and more recently Suzy Nece, Ofie Dates, and Sheri Long.  I feel the most connected as a teacher when encouraging you to approach your practice by channeling yourself but balancing that with a sense of curiosity and self exploration. What I value most the one-one-one experience where I can provide focused attention and feedback, guiding you to get stronger both mentally and physically – whether that’s in a private session or a group class.
